Some common errors occur in FanUpdate that may or may not be in the documentation of the script. Some are outlined below, which will hopefully help you.
ERROR: Could not connect to database server
You may have something incorrect in your database settings in blog-config.php so check to make sure.
If you don’t have your own cPanel you may need to ask your host to assist you or ensure you have the correct information.
This error may also occur if your site is experiencing downtime.
ERROR: Invalid username/password
You are most likely typing the username and password incorrectly.
Check your blog-config.php and make sure you have typed the username and password exactly as you have in the configuration file, as both are case-sensitive.
One of these warnings can occur after using FanUpdate for some time or when starting to use. They are obvious and can be seen in red.
WARNING: Unknown: write failed: No space left on device (28)
WARNING: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp)
WARNING: Could not execute query. Got error 28 from storage engine: SELECT b.*, COUNT(com.comment_id) AS num_comments FROM blog b LEFT JOIN blog_comments com ON b.entry_id=com.entry_id WHERE b.is_public > 0 AND (com.approved>0 OR com.approved IS NULL) GROUP BY b.entry_id ORDER BY b.added DESC LIMIT 5
Refresh the page first to see that it is not a temporary error.
If refreshing does not work, check that you are not logged in twice. If you are, log out of one window and refresh.
Try logging out and logging back in.
If the above three don’t work, you may need to repair your database:
Make sure you have also deleted install.php. Many other errors are caused by database problems or server problems so these methods may not always work.
Most likely, if you didn’t do anything that could have possibly caused the problem, then things may be back to normal after a few hours or so.
